As a student in Paris one of my favorite things to do was to sit on the quai under Pont Marie and enjoy a sandwich made on a warm and toasty baguette. Years later Nick and I went to Paris and after an exhaustive morning of touring, we sat on the quai and shared a sandwich of ham and cheese along with a nice bottle of wine. Parisian Sandwich brings back warm and happy memories of my days as a student in Paris and my vacation with Nick.

Directions
Slice the baguette in half lengthwise, leaving the long edge joined together so you can open it like a book.
Spread butter along both halves of the inside, fold the slices of ham and place along one side of the baguette. Place the cheese on top and sandwich the baguette together.
Cut into 12 equal pieces and tie each piece with string.
Serve with cornichons alongside.
