Winter Rose

I have designed a cocktail that captures the spirit, strength, and loveliness of my daughter Kristin. The Winter Rose cocktail is vibrant and stunning colors, luscious yet subtle, and sparkling with beauty.  This cocktail is a small tribute to my daughter, a beautiful, strong, and compassionate young woman.

                                                                                   Winter Rose

 

Ingredients
2 oz. silver tequila
1 oz. Grand Marnier or orange flavored liquor
1 oz. grapefruit juice
2 oz. tart cherry juice
1 oz. lime juice
1 oz. simple syrup - equal parts water and sugar
1/4 teaspoon pink Himalayan salt
1/3 teaspoon gold sanding sugar 
1/3 teaspoon red sanding sugar 

special equipment
rose ice cube mold

Directions
Make the ice cube the day before. Pour 1/3 part grapefruit juice and 2/3 parts tart cherry juice into rose ice cube mold. 

On a small plate, combine the pink Himalayan salt and gold and red sanding sugar. Rim a cocktail glass with the mixture. Set aside.

Add the silver tequila, Grand Marnier, grapefruit juice, tart cherry juice, lime juice, and simple syrup to an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into the prepared cocktail glass. Carefully place the rose ice cube in the cocktail glass.
