Summer Rose

My beautiful daughter Kristin was born on the first day of summer. That year happened to be on Father's Day; Kristin was the perfect Father’s Day gift. To celebrate the day, Nick brought me a dozen of the most exquisite roses, each petal perfect with a most beautiful light pink. I created this cocktail, Summer Rose as a tribute to that special day.

I lovingly dedicate this blog and the Summer Rose cocktail to Kristin and Nick.

Ingredients
2 ounces silver tequila
1 ounce Grand Marnier
1 ounces pink lemonade
1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
1 ounce simple syrup - equal parts sugar and water
1/2 teaspoon pink Himalayan salt
1/2 teaspoon glitter sanding sugar

special equipment
rose ice cube mold

Directions
Make the rose ice cube the day before. Pour pink lemonade into the rose cube mold.

On a small plate, combine the pink Himalayan salt and sanding sugar. Rim a cocktail glass with the mixture and set aside.

Add the silver tequila, Grand Marnier, pink lemonade, lime juice, and simple syrup to an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into the prepared cocktail glass. Gently place the rose ice cube in the cocktail glass.
