Spiced Pumpkin Bread

Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3 cups sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
3 large eggs
1 15-ounce can pure pumpkin
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter and flour two 9x5x3 inch metal loaf pans. Sift first 7 ingredients into a bowl. Beat sugar and oil in another large bowl to blend. Mix in eggs and pumpkin.. Stir dry ingredients into pumpkin mixture in 2 additions just until blended. Mix in walnuts if desired.

Divide batter between prepared pans. Bake breads until tester comes out clean, about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Transfer to racks and cool in pans for 10 minutes. Using a knife, cut around sides of loaves to loosen.Turn loaves onto a rack and cool completely.
