Spaghetti with Olive Oil, Garlic, and Allium

Since I was a little girl, I have been enchanted with  allium. Their ball-like ornament shape magically suspended above the ground, adorned with delicate deep purple flowers transform any garden with enchantment and wonder. The allium flower with its lovely subtle onion flavor, texture, and beauty will elevate any dish, such as Spaghetti with Olive Oil, Garlic, and Allium.

Spaghetti with Olive Oil, Garlic, and Allium

Ingredients
1 pound spaghetti
1/2 cup good extra-virgin olive oil
8 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
2-3 tablespoons allium flowers
salt

Directions
Bring a large pot of well- salted water to a boil.

Heat the olive oil in a large saute pan over medium heat.

Begin cooking the spaghetti in the boiling water.

While it cooks, add the minced garlic to the warm olive oil. Add the crushed red pepper flakes. Cook until the garlic is soft and aromatic.

When the pasta is al dente, drain and add to the pan. Taste and adjust the seasoning, adding salt as needed.  Remove from the heat and stir in Parmesan cheese. Garnish with the allium flowers. Serve immediately.
