Smoked Salmon Spaghetti

Smoked Salmon Spaghetti may be the ultimate comfort food. On a chilly winter day, a hot plate of this fancy and indulgent spaghetti is satisfyingly delectable and one of my favorite go-to comfort foods.

                                                                   Smoked Salmon Spaghetti

Ingredients
 8 oz. spaghetti
4 oz. smoked salmon, cut into bite size pieces
1/3 cup good quality olive oil
1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 tsp.. lemon zest
1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
1/3 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/5 cup fresh basil, chiffonade

Directions
In a large bowl, whisk together the oil, Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes to combine. Set aside.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook, stirring occasionally, until al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water. Add spaghetti to the prepared sauce, and toss with smoked salmon, lemon zest, and fresh basil. Toss the pasta with reserved  pasta water as needed to moisten. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
