The Forsythia Cocktail

Although we lived in the city, my mother grew up in the country and never lost her love for the beauty of spring. Each spring, she would look forward to driving us to New Jersey and taking the ramp to the upper level of the George Washington bridge. Alongside the ramp were cascades of breathtaking,  vibrant yellow forsythias. Of course we could have taken the lower level but it was not adorned with these gorgeous flowers. I can still hear my mother say with such enthusiasm, "Look at those forsythias!". Because of my mother, I love forsythia and often find myself exclaiming to children with the same enthusiasm , "Look at those forsythias!"

                                                                             The Forsythia Cocktail 

Ingredients

1 1/2 ounces citron vodka

1 ounce limoncello 

1 ounce honey simple syrup (2 parts honey, 1 part water)

1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice

Directions

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the citron vodka, limoncello, honey simple syrup, and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Shake vigorously and strain into a cocktail glass.
