Hanukkah Gelt Cookies

Hanukkah has many traditions: lighting the menorah, spinning the dreidels, getting presents, eating latkes, special desserts, and chocolate gelt. Hanukkah Gelt Cookies could be a wonderful addition to your Hanukkah celebration. So whimsical and delicious, these cookies could be the start of a new tradition. 

                                                                        Hanukkah Gelt Cookies


Ingredients
1 roll cookie dough
chocolate gelt
gold sanding sugar 

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Cut dough in 1" pieces, place 2" apart on the lined cookie sheet, and sprinkle with gold sanding sugar. Bake for 8-10 minutes.

Remove foil from chocolate gelt while the dough is baking. Remove baked cookie dough from the oven and gently press one gelt into the center of each cookie. Make an indentation in the cookie as you press. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes, gelt must have time to become firm again.
